PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game machine which can increase excitement and enjoyment of a game effect display during a special game state and give a change to the play. SOLUTION: The game machine 100 includes: a variable display apparatus 4a which can carry out a variable display of two or more pieces of recognition information; and a control apparatus which carries out a control that can generate a special play state which is favorable to its player when the game reaches a predetermined specific stop state as a result of a variable display play in which the pieces of recognition information are variably displayed. The control means includes a game control apparatus 20 and a display control apparatus 40. The display control apparatus 40 includes a character selection display means which carries out a character selection display leading to a result of a game effect display by selecting a certain character out of two or more characters, and decides a game effect according to the character selected by the character selection display means and transmitted data sent from the game control apparatus 20.
