PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal electrolytic capacitor which reduces leakage to a large extent, quickly absorbing and immobilizing vaporized gas etc. of electrolyte for driving spouted when an explosion proof valve operates. SOLUTION: An aluminum electrolytic capacitor body 1 is configured so that a capacitor element is built in a bottomed cylinder-like metal case 2 made of aluminum. From this capacitor element, a pair of lead wires 3a, 3b are led out. In a top plate portion 2a of the metal case 2, an explosion proof valve 4 composed of thinned portion of roughly cross shape is formed. A bottomed cylinder-like metal cap 6 is attached to such capacitor body 1 from above as a casing. In the top plate (bottomed portion) 6a of the cap 6, a plurality of small holes 7, 7... are formed, and in a space portion S between the cap 6 and the top plate portion 2a of the capacitor body 1, an absorbing material 9 wrapped by a permeable fiber material 8 such as nonwoven fabric, filter paper etc. is arranged.
