<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a retardation film excellent in translucency, having a uniform in-plane phase difference value, and capable of providing both roles as a negative C plate and A plate. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the biaxial optical polynorbornene film includes a step of preparing a composition containing a polynorbornene polymer, by using a mixed solvent of a high-boiling point solvent with a boiling point difference of ≥20°C and a low-boiling poing solvent to dissolve the polynorbornene polymer, in which a content of the high-boiling point solvent is 0.1-15 wt.% based on a weight of the polynorbornene polymer, a step of drying partially the composition by casting, to obtain a polynorbornene film containing the mixed solvent within a range of 1-6 wt.% based on total weight of the polynorbornene film, and a step of uniaxial-stretching the partially dried film along one direction in parallel to a film face, at a stretching temperature of ≤+ 20°C of a boiling point of the high-boiling point solvent, followed to be dried at the boiling point of the high-boiling point solvent or more, while maintaining a stretched state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
