摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the speed of processing (improve a frame rate) in a surroundings monitoring device mounted on a vehicle to determine the possibility of collision with a target object around. <P>SOLUTION: When a time-series information calculation part 21 calculates a two-dimensional optical flow by corresponding point search from time-series images obtained by stereo cameras 11 and 12, a target object candidate region extraction part 22 extracts a candidate region having a high possibility of presence of a target object. A three-dimensional information acquisition part 23 obtains three-dimensional information of the candidate region for the target object from the images by the stereo cameras 11 and 12, and from positional relationship between the obtained three-dimensional information and the surroundings monitoring device 1, a collision determination part 24 determines collision possibility. The processing speed can be increased when three-dimensional collision determination is carried out while limiting the candidate region for the target object by using only the two-dimensional optical flow calculated from the time-series images without requiring any complicated object recognition processing or a road model. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p>
