PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high purity 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenylsulfone in a high yield in a short time by improving the problematic points of conventional technologies. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenylsulfone is characterized in that a reaction vessel is equipped with a rectifying device in producing the 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenylsulfone by performing the dehydration reaction of a sulfonating agent or phenol sulfonic acid with phenol in a solvent containing an alkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon.
