PURPOSE: An inverter device and a driving method thereof are provided to sense an open lamp and a short lamp by receiving the driving voltage and the driving current of a discharge lamp through a diode. CONSTITUTION: A first feedback information generator(310) generates a first feedback voltage corresponding to the driving voltage of a first discharge lamp among at least two discharge lamps. A second feedback information generator(320) generates a second feedback voltage corresponding to the driving voltage of a second discharge lamp among at least two discharge lamps. An inverter driver(100) senses the short lamp among at least two discharge lamp using a first triangular signal with a preset period. A third feedback information generator(410) generates a third feedback voltage corresponding to the driving current of the first discharge lamp. A fourth feedback information generator(420) generates a fourth feedback voltage corresponding to the driving current of the second discharge lamp.
