PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which makes small, at the time of application of a modulation pulse waveform on a wiring, voltage fluctuations of other wirings due to high frequency components, thereby suppressing a luminance change due to the voltage fluctuations, in a low gradation area.SOLUTION: The control method for an image display apparatus including a display panel where a plurality of display elements are arranged in a matrix by a plurality of column wirings and a plurality of row wirings includes the steps of: outputting a selection potential to a row wiring to be driven; and generating a modulation pulse on the basis of a value of image data, and outputting the modulation pulse to a column wiring. When it is assumed that a minimum value of a value I of the image data is Imin, a maximum value of the value I is Imax, and Imin<I1<I2≤Imax, the modulation pulse-generating step generates, in a gradation area of Imin ≤I≤I1, a trapezoidal shape pulse as the modulation pulse, and makes the peak height of the trapezoidal shape pulse larger in accordance with the increasing of the value I; and the modulation pulse-generating step makes, in the gradation area of I1<I≤I2, the pulse width of the trapezoidal shape pulse longer in accordance with the increasing in the value I. |
