PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst in which the particle growth of noble metal particles carried on a carrier is controlled, the activity of such noble metal particles is high during usage, and which is capable of making the usage volume of the noble metal relatively small; and a manufacturing method of such an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst.SOLUTION: The exhaust gas cleaning catalyst 10 has a carrier 11 and an almost hemisphere-shaped noble metal particle 12; the width (W) of the part where the carrier contacts with the noble metal particle, and the height (H) of the noble metal particle satisfy the formula (1); and also, the height (H) of the noble metal particle is 0.5 nm or above: W/H>1.0 (1). Also, in the manufacturing method of the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst, noble metal ions are coordinated at a polymer in a raw material solution; the noble metal ion is partially reduced and flocculated to form a noble metal agglomerate in which reduction and flocculation occur partially; a carrier is introduced into the raw material solution containing this noble metal agglomerate; and the carrier and the raw material solution are dried and calcined. |
