PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To successively control a discharge amount of a reciprocating compressor over a wide range. SOLUTION: A reciprocating compressor includes the inside space of a cylinder 2 which is demarcated into an upper chamber 2a and lower chamber 2b by a piston 3, compresses and discharges fluid in both the upper chamber 2a and lower chamber 2b, and further includes intake valves 7 and discharge valves 10 provided to both of the upper chamber 2a and lower chamber 2b, a clearance pocket 12 communicating to the upper chamber 2a, and an unloader 11 bringing the lower chamber 2b into an unloaded state by forcibly opening the intake valve 7 provided to the lower chamber 2b. A clearance pocket 12 has a capacity in which the amount of fluid discharged from the upper chamber 2a can be made to be substantially zero and which is variable. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
