<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing device, an information processing method and a program which can readily and accurately determine the operation state of the device by a user. <P>SOLUTION: The information processing device includes a display panel 101a, a touch panel 101b that detects a finger P moved on the display panel, and a controlling section 103 that designates a predetermined moving direction Dd and determines the operation state of the device based on a differenceΔbetween the designated moving direction Dd and a moving direction Da of the finger moved on the display panel according to the designation. According to the means, when the device is operated with one hand, the difference according to the finger to be used for operation tends to occur readily between the designated moving direction and the moving direction of the finger due to a structure of the hand; whereas when the device is operated using both hands, the difference according to the finger to be used for operation is difficult to occur between the designated moving direction and the moving direction of the fingers.
