PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gasification furnace that can reduce frequency in using burner for melting and can stabilize flow of slag. SOLUTION: The gasification furnace 10A is equipped with a slag hole 16 opened at the bottom of the combustor 12 that is for generating flammable gas from dust coal, and with an eddy generators 30 for flowing down slag S discharged by gasification of dust coal into slag-cooling water Ws kept in a gas oil combustion chamber 14 placed at the lower part of the combustor 12, from the slag hole 16, as well as for reducing pressure at the center of the gas oil combustion chamber 14 that is provided with a burner 20 for melting placed near the slag hole 16 of the gas oil combustion chamber 14.
