PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display system and an illumination system capable of preventing the visibility of an image displayed in a display device from being impaired by light rays emitted from an illuminator. SOLUTION: The display system includes the illuminator 10 which emits light; the display device 20 which emits light having a plurality of different colors and is irradiated with a part of light emitted from the illuminator 10; a first band-pass filter 21 disposed on the display screen of the display device 20, configured to partly transmit the light emitted from the display device 20 where a peak wavelength of the light emitted from the illuminator 10 in a spectral distribution is located between a plurality of peak wavelengths of light emitted from the display device 20 in a spectral distribution, the minimum value of a transmittance of the first band-pass filter 21 with respect to a wavelength is located in a wavelength region near the peak wavelength of the light emitted from the illuminator 10 in the spectral distribution.
