<p>The diol esters used to prepare polyesters for use as fibres are obtd. in one-step as coloureless or white granulates, using any grain size of acid. The acid is first mixed with the 2-10 C alkane diol at its b.pt. and esterification carried out in presence of non-acid catalysts, pref. Ca or its cpds., at a temp. above the b.pt. and a press. above the vapour press. of the diol. 1-1.5 mole alkane diol are used per moles terephthalic acid.</p> |
