Disclosed is an amino acid derivative including a pyrrolidine, of formula I, where the substituents and variables are as defined in the specification. Also disclosed is the use of the compound for inhibiting a serine protease, such as HCV NS3 protease. Also disclosed is the use of the compound to treat an HCV (hepatitis C virus) infection.
