Caspase inhibitor prodrugs

The disclosure relates to prodrugs of caspase inhibitors of formula (I) comprising of a furo[3, 2-d]oxazolin-5-one moiety which, under specific conditions, can convert into biologically active compounds, particularly caspase inhibitors. This disclosure also relates to the processes for preparing these prodrugs of caspase inhibitors of formula (I). The disclosure further relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising said prodrugs and to the use thereof for the treatment of diseases related to inflammatory or degenerative conditions.
