The roof (2) has indexing units cooperating with fasteners e.g. abutments (3), of longitudinal roof arches (1) so as to accurately position the roof on the roof arches. The fasteners assure fixation of a foot of a roof bar. The indexing units comprise notches (20) formed on a longitudinal edge (21) and an opposite longitudinal edge of the roof, respectively. Each roof arch has an inner profile (10) and an outer profile (11) fixed with each other. The outer profile has an outer surface (110) forming a groove (111) shaped to receive the former longitudinal edge of the roof. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a vehicle body comprising a base fixed to a roof arch (2) a method for positioning and assembling a roof on a vehicle body.
