<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved composition and a method for selectively removing carbonyl sulfide (COS) from acid gas including COS and carbon dioxide (CO<SB>2</SB>). <P>SOLUTION: A solvent composition for removing COS from a gas stream including COS comprises (a) 1,3-dimethyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-2(1H)-pyrimidinone and (b) at least one alkanolamine compound of formula (II): R<SB>3</SB>NHR<SB>4</SB>OR<SB>6</SB>or at least one piperazine compound of formula (III) (in formulae (II) and (III), R<SB>3</SB>is hydrogen, a 1-6C alkyl group or a R<SB>4</SB>OH group; R<SB>4</SB>is a 1-6C branched or unbranched alykylene group; R<SB>5</SB>s are each hydrogen or a 1-4C hydroxyalkyl group independently; and R<SB>6</SB>is hydrogen or a 1-6C alkyl group or a 1-4C hydroxyalkyl group). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
