PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a filter characteristic in a surface acoustic wave device using an IDT electrode of a serial division type. SOLUTION: Each of SAW elements 12, 13 includes IDT electrodes 1-5 where each IDT electrode includes: a central bus bar electrode; a plurality of first floating electrodes each having one end connected to a one-side long side, and arranged by being spaced apart from one another; a plurality of second floating electrodes each having one end connected to the other-side long side, and arranged by being spaced apart from one another; first electrodes arranged to be located between the first floating electrodes; and second electrodes arranged to be located between the second floating electrodes. The SAW element is constituted so that ways of changes of electrode finger pitches from one end of the IDT electrode to the other end thereof are made different from each other in a region where the first floating electrodes and the first electrodes are arranged across the center line of the central bus bar electrode and in a region where the second floating electrodes and the second electrodes are arranged.
