PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building material for an exterior wall having a photocatalyst coating film which has superior self-cleaning property and does not induce the deterioration of the base even when directly formed without forming a protective layer on the base. SOLUTION: In this building material for an exterior wall, a coating film containing photocatalyst particles (A) and a binder (B) is formed on the surface of the base of the building material for the exterior wall of a house or the like. The coating film exhibits a hydrophilicity of 10-40°, when converted into the contact angle thereof with water, by the light excitation of the photocatalyst. Also, the coating film has a photocatalyst activity having an activity index of 3-15 according to the self-cleaning test conforming to JIS R 1703-2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
