PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and simple method of quantizing a signal amplitude, in a rotation angle sensor detecting the angular componentθfrom two-dimensional analog signals Vx, Vy detected by a magnetic sensor. SOLUTION: In the rotation angle sensor, the output of an addition part is branched into two portions, i.e. V<SB>rot</SB>, V<SB>fbx</SB>. The V<SB>fbx</SB>is fed back to an input of an X axis signal S/H part. The inputs to the X axis signal S/H part are two portions, i.e. V<SB>x</SB>, V<SB>fbx</SB>, and the inputs to the Y axis signal S/H part are two portions, inclusive of a reference voltage V<SB>md</SB>in addition to the V<SB>y</SB>. A switching signal for switching the inputs in an angle calculation operation and an amplitude calculation operation is input to each axis signal S/H part by a signal control part. For the V<SB>rot</SB>, at amplitude calculation, V<SB>rot</SB>=V<SB>y</SB>' is held during angle calculation operation, and during amplitude calculation, V<SB>rot</SB>=V<SB>x</SB>' is held.
