PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To synthesize document image data with superposition image data so as to appropriately draw a superposition image irrespective of drawing size of a document image. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus is provided with: a self-similar image storage section 13 which stores a pattern of a self-similar image; a superposition image data generation section 15 which generates the superposition image data consisting of the self-similar image based on the pattern of the self-similar image; an image synthesizing section 17 which synthesizes the document image data with the superposition image data; and a control section 11 which controls operations of the respective sections, wherein the superposition image data generation section 15 shapes the pattern of the self-similar image so that the size of the superposition image is set corresponding to drawing size of the document image to be determined by the control section 11.
