Two or more textile strand (eg. of carbon or boron filaments, or optical (fibres) are combined with one or more thermoplastic filaments, and the structure in either heated along its complete length, or at spaced positions to fuse the thermoplastic filaments and thereby bond the strands together. Alternatively thermoplastic filaments may be incorporated in the weft of a woven fabric, and the fabric folded and heated simultaneously to melt the thermoplastic filaments and provide a permanent pleat. |
