<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hinge unit which can engage/separate a cam without enlarging an elastic force of elastic member 6. <P>SOLUTION: The hinge unit 1 is formed by a shaft 2, a flange 3, a fixed cam 4, a movable cam 5, and the elastic member 6; the shaft 2 works as a hinge shaft; the flange 3 is penetrated through the shaft 2; the fixed cam 4 is equipped with an engaging section 7 and penetrated through the shaft 2; the movable cam 5 is equipped with an engaged section 8 engaging with the engaging section 7 and interfits into the shaft 2; and the elastic member 6 is arranged at a location far at a predetermined amount from the hinge shaft between the flange 3 and fixed cam 4 and pushes the fixed cam 4.
