PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device and an image processing method which spectroscopically reproduces a color of a multiband image with high accuracy through simple processing. SOLUTION: An image processing device is provided with: a color conversion computing means 109 for deriving an output signal value from a multiband signal value of a multiband image acquired from a multiband image input device 101, and a color conversion executing means 113 for converting the multiband image into an output image that can be output via an image output device 102 by using the output signal value. The color conversion computing means 109 are provided with a spectroscopic property estimation means 111 for estimating spectral-radiance characteristics reproduced by any output signal value based on an input/output property of the image output device, a multiband signal value estimation means 110 for producing an estimation multiband signal value by using the spectral radiance, and an output signal value derivation means 112 for deriving the output signal value according to a result of comparison between the estimation multiband signal value and the multiband signal value.
