<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a compression rate when coding moving images by improving especially a level coding method in the variable length coding processing of image data. <P>SOLUTION: A CAVLC coding part 22 acquires a transformed/quantized coefficient for which moving image data are orthogonally transformed and quantized for each block unit. A level part coding mode control part 39 determines which coding mode of a table A41, a table B42, and the coexistence of the table A41 and the table B42 is used for variable length coding, and a determined result is outputted to a level_prefix part 40. In the table B42, a bit string of fixed length is allocated to the level_prefix of a predetermined value or larger. The level_prefix part 40 performs a coding operation of level_prefix in the coding mode based on the determined result and outputs the result to an output control part 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
