PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder for efficiently feeding a plurality of sheets toward a processing position, by shortening a paper feeding time of the next sheet in succession to a previous sheet. SOLUTION: The sheet feeder includes a paper feeding tray for placing the sheet, a delivery roller for delivering the sheet on this paper feeding tray, a paper feeding roller for feeding the delivered sheet, a separation member for separating the sheet fed in pressure contact by the paper feeding roller, and a feed roller for feeding the sheet fed by the paper feeding roller toward a predetermined processing position. The delivery roller is constituted so that the next sheet is delivered by contacting with the next sheet before the rear end of the previous sheet sent by the feed roller passes through a position of the paper feeding roller and delivery of the next sheet is stopped when the rear end of the previous sheet passes through the paper feeding roller. Thus, since the next sheet is delivered before the previous sheet passes through a nip part between the paper feeding roller and a separation member, an interval between the sheets can be shortened, and productivity of sheet processing is improved.
