PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of surely operating a safety valve. SOLUTION: A recessed portion 5 opened at the lower part is provided on the bottom part of a cleaner body provided with a dust collecting portion and incorporating an electric blower, the recessed portion 5 is provided with a wheel portion 8, and the communicating hole 19 of the safety valve 13 is opened. Thus, when the safety valve 13 is operated, even when a sheet-shaped article is present on a surface to be cleaned such as a floor surface and is sucked, not only a gap G between the recessed portion 5 and the wheel portion 8 forms the path of outside air but also a small diameter wheel 10 of the wheel portion 8 steps on the object to form a larger path of the outside air.
