<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire configured so that a lighting cover can be attached to an installation plate fixed to an installation surface of a ceiling with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The ceiling downlight (luminaire) 1 includes: the installation plate 2 to be fixed to a ceiling surface, the installation plate having substantially a circular shape in plan view; and a lighting cover 31 opened at the upper end with at least an upper end edge 31a having a cylindrical shape. A plurality of sets of cover supporting structures 3 are integrally formed on the periphery of the installation plate 2. Each support structure 3 includes a through groove 3a, an upward projecting piece 3b circumferentially separated from the groove, and a receiving plate portion 3c located between the through groove and the projecting piece. An upward projection 3f is integrally formed on the receiving plate portion 3c. A plurality of engaging projections 32 having a size sufficient to allow vertical passage thereof through the through groove 3a are integrally provided on the inner periphery of the upper opening edge 31a, each projection being hooked on the upper surface of the receiving plate portion 3c in a state where it is positioned by the upward projection 3f and the projecting piece 3b contacting with the ceiling surface.
