<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a golf club shaft which has a high isotropy of prepregs constituting a twisting rigidity-holding layer and can assure a sufficient twisting rigidity with a smaller number of plies of fewer prepregs, and to provide a golf club using this. <P>SOLUTION: In the golf club shaft having the twisting rigidity-holding layer made of a thermosetting resin provided with reinforced fibers crossing the longitudinal direction of a shaft, the twisting rigidity-holding layer includes a multilayer set prepreg made by setting at least two layers of prepregs in which the thermosetting resin is impregnated in the reinforce fibers. In the plurality of prepregs in the multilayer set prepreg, the reinforced fibers in the mutually different direction are included.
