PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device that facilitates intuitive determination and has good operability. SOLUTION: The portable electronic device includes a display unit having an image display area which is transparent in a state where no image is displayed, a housing wherein the display unit is arranged therein, and a part corresponding to the image display area is formed of a transparent material, and a control unit which displays an image at least based upon either of scale or orientation in the image display area of the display unit.
