1406316 Sliding doors and windows CONZ ELEKTRICITATS GmbH 10 Oct 1972 [19 Oct 1971] 46580/72 Heading E2M [Also in Division H2] A polyphase linear motor 2, 8, e.g. for a sliding door, window or curtain, operates against the force of an eddy current brake 3 so that the motor speed is less dependent on variations in the frictional resistance to motion, the eddy current brake electromagnets also cooperating with ferrous pieces 5, 6 when the door (&c) is at one or other limit of its travel to act as a magnetic catch. The d.c.-energised, solid-cored eddy current brake electromagnets 3 are disposed at one or both ends of the motor inductor on either side of the armature rail 8. The ferrous pieces are mounted on the rail and may comprise: (i) (Fig. 1c) two pieces 5, 6 which, at the limits of travel, are spaced horizontally from the extreme electromagnets; (ii) (Fig. 2d, not shown) pieces (7) inset into the rail to lie, at the limits, between opposed ones of the electromagnets; or (iii) (Fig. 3a, not shown) U-shaped pieces (7) slipped over a longitudinal edge of the rail to lie above or below the electromagnets. |
