Disclosed is a three-dimensional cell-supporting body that is configured from a material that breaks down in vivo, causes cells to be distributed evenly, and supports the cells in a state without unevenness. The cell-supporting body comprises a porous material that is configured from a biodegradable material and that has the following characteristics: (a) a porosity of at least 81% and no more than 99.99%; (b) an average pore size of 10-400 µm; (c) the presence of continuous holes between pores; and (d) a coefficient of water absorption of at least 1000% and no more than 9900%.
