The polyamic acids are made by (A) reacting (a) aliphatic diacid with (b) polyamine material comprising #10% equivalents of polyamine (IV) where n#0À1 on the average; and then (B) reacting the product of (A) with (c) organic dianhydride and (d) a specified aliphatically unsaturated organic dicarboxylic acid anhydride. In step (A) aromatic dicarboxylic acids or anhydrides, aliphatic anhydrides, or tricarboxylic acids or anhydrides may also be present. Diacid (a) may be saturated or unsaturated. Besides (IV), polyamine material (b) may include other polyamine(s). Long lists of all the above materials are given. The solvent may be cresylic acid, cyclohexanone, acetophenone, or mono- or polyalkyl-benzenes.</p> |
