The device has a section equipped with a receiving cavity for receiving a folded portion of a web (3). A retention unit allows retention of the folded portion in the cavity. The retention unit has a blocking unit blocking a lengthened element (4) in the cavity. The blocking unit has a contracting unit contracting the cavity. The contracting unit has width lower than the width of the lengthened element. One side of the cavity is elastically deformable in flexion so as to enlarge the contracting unit beyond the width of the lengthened element.
