<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high quality in image display by preventing light loss in the vicinity of a boundary area with relatively simple structure and improving a contrast ratio of display image in an electrooptical device. <P>SOLUTION: In the electrooptical device, an electrooptical material (50) is sandwiched between a pair of substrates (10 and 20). The electrooptical device includes: a pixel electrode (9) which is provided corresponding to each pixel on one substrate of the pair of substrates; a light shielding film (401) which is provided on one substrate and at least partially specifies an opening region of each pixel in plane view on the pair of substrates; and an interlayer dielectric (501) which is provided between the pixel electrode and a layer of the light shielding film on one substrate and has higher refractive index compared to the electrooptical material, at least in a part facing the light shielding film. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
