PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily divide a publication according to publication types.

SOLUTION: A publication dividing device 1 includes a publication information storage part 30 which stores publication information representing a publication as structured data composed of a plurality of elements; and a division processing part 21 which determines the publication type of the publication for every element. In the publication information, one or a plurality of material files 3 formed by digitizing the content of the publication are associated for each element. The division part 21 determines the publication type based on the material file 3 associated with the element.
