PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multifunctional peripheral that achieves smooth opening and closing operation of a scanner unit 12, while achieving damping when the scanner unit is closed with respect to a printer unit 11, and has a compact and less expensive opening and closing mechanism 28, concerning improvement of a multifunctional peripheral in which an upper unit is opened and closed with respect to a body unit.SOLUTION: A distal end 32 of a connecting rod 27 is connected to the scanner unit 12 through a supporting pin 30, and a slide pin 31 provided at a base end 33 of the connecting rod is connected to the printer unit 11 through a damping portion 28. The damping portion 28 has a piston 34 and a holding unit 35. The piston 34 is supported by the holding unit 35, and slides in a front-and-rear direction 2. A coil spring 63 is inserted between the piston 34 and the holding unit 35. When the scanner unit 12 is closed, the piston 34 is slid by the slide pin 31, and the coil spring 63 is compressed. When the coil spring 63 is compressed by a fixed amount, engagement of the slide pin 31 and the piston 34 is released. |
