PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy for normal temperature manufactured by adding an alkaline earth metal oxide to a melt of magnesium or the magnesium alloy, and also to provide a method for manufacturing the magnesium alloy.SOLUTION: CaO is added to the surface of the melt of the magnesium alloy and thereafter the CaO is used by the reducing action of the melt and the added CaO to generate a compound. Accordingly, the normal temperature mechanical properties (tensile strength, yield strength, elongation rate) of the magnesium alloy before the addition of the CaO are improved and the normal temperature mechanical properties are increased by the increase of the addition amount of the CaO. |
