PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver and an activation method thereof, which shorten waiting time after activation while suppressing power consumption on standby, despite mounting of a component which requires long time for activation.SOLUTION: The broadcast receiver detects human approach by a human detection sensor 40 and a sub-CPU 60, in which power supply is always on in a state that a power plug 75 is connected to a commercial power supply, and controls power supply from a main power supply unit which supplies power to each portion of the device. That is to say, prior to activation of the device by a main switch 22 or a remote controller 30, the component (image processing section 200) which is composed of a CPU loaded with an OS, a digital LSI or the like and requires time for activation is activated in advance and waits, thereby the waiting time after activation of the device is shortened while suppressing power consumption on standby. |
