Forms of diaminobutane dendrimers and the use thereof for binding phosphate

Disclosed is a dendrimer composition comprising a diaminobutane dendrimer in a hydrochloride, hydrobromide or hydroacetate form. The disclosure also relates to the use of said diaminobutane dendrimer composition for preparing a medicament to treat a disease or disorder responsive to reduced intestinal phosphate adsorption by preventing adsorption of at least 50% of phosphate in a mammal's gastrointestinal tract (GI) tract.
