<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device suppressing motion blur generated in a hold type display device through which an afterimage remains on a retina when a human eye sees a moving object and allowing improved resolution of a moving image. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device of the present invention is an image display device projecting and displaying an image on a screen, which comprises plural solid light sources, a modulator modulating light from the plural solid light sources, and an image display element generating plural sub-frames configured of fragmented sub-fields on the basis of image data of 1 frame and displaying the plural sub-frames, the modulator turning off all light outputs from the solid light sources during the period of at least one or more of the plural sub-frames. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
