<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable detection of displacement of a linear power transmission member such a wire in a longitudinal direction. <P>SOLUTION: An insert section 1 of a manipulator has an operation section 12 at the tip thereof. The operation section 12 operates due to displacement of a wire 13 driven by a drive section 21. The wire 13 has a potentiometer section 33 provided therein. A reflecting surface 42 having continuously different optical reflectance in a longitudinal direction of the wire 13 is fixed to a portion passing through the potentiometer section of the wire 13. The light radiated from an optical section 35 is guided by an optical fiber 31, one end of which is fixed to the potentiometer section 33, and irradiates the reflecting surface 42. The intensity of the light reflected by the reflecting surface 42 varies depending on the displacement of the wire 13. The reflected light is guided to the optical section 35 by the optical fiber 31, is received by the optical section 35 and is subjected to signal processing by a signal processing section 36, and thereby the displacement of the wire 13 is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
