<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand switch mechanism that can give an interactive interface for improving the availability of information to a technician and for controlling an X-ray system without repeatedly approaching a control console. <P>SOLUTION: In one embodiment, an X-ray system (10) includes a handheld X-ray interface device (38). The handheld X-ray interface device (38) includes a wireless interface (124) for communicating with an imaging system (12) and a user-viewable screen (46) configured to display patient data (184) and to receive user input.
