<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an overlap nozzle in transition processing. <P>SOLUTION: The printer implements a printing method for forming a dot train by upper and lower end nozzles. When the number of lower end nozzles in regular processing is defined as Oo, a relative moving amount in the regular processing is defined as F1, a relative moving amount in lower-end transition processing is defined as F2, a predetermined interval is defined as P, the number of unavailable nozzles in the regular processing is defined as N1, and the number of unavailable nozzles in the lower-end transition processing is defined as N2, the number of the lower end nozzles O(1) in the first image forming operation in the lower end transition processing is calculated by O(1)=Oo-ä(F1-F2)/P-(N1-N2)}.
