PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve combustion stability during fast idling and temperature rising performance of an exhaust emission purifying catalyst in an internal combustion engine including a cylinder-injection-type fuel injection valve and a piston having a cavity for fuel splashing formed on its top face.
SOLUTION: Shrouds 41 and 42 are formed to extend along outer rims of both suction ports 6a and 6b on a combustion chamber wall 2a of a cylinder head 2. The shrouds 41 and 42 are formed counterclockwise along the periphery of openings of the suction ports 6a and 6b around the center P of the combustion chamber wall 2a. Thus, during low lift, sucked air flowing from the suction ports 6a and 6b into a combustion chamber 5 is blocked by the shrouds 41 and 42, thereby causing a clockwise swirl and keeping a fuel mist in the vicinity of an ignition plug 15.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
