<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute an electrode by combining various solids without affecting electrode characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: In a short arc type discharge lamp, a metal member 40 having a high fusing point and a metal member 50 having high heat conductivity are SPS bonded, thereby constituting an anode 30. The metal member 40 in a truncated cone shape and the metal member 50 in a column shape are bonded to form a composition surface S along a direction perpendicular to an electrode axis X, namely, along an anode cross-section radial direction.
