PURPOSE: A novel recombinant glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide agonist is provided to activate GLP-1 and GIP receptor and to treat type 1 and 2 diabetes. CONSTITUTION: A recombinant GIP compound contains an amino acid sequence of chemical formula I, Xaa1-Ser-Glu-Gly-Thr-Phe-Xaa7-Ser-Asp-Tyr-Thr-Ile-Ala-Met-Xaa15-Lys-Ile-Xaa18-Gln-Gln-Asp-Phe-Val-Asn-Trp-Leu-Leu-Ala-Gln-Lys-R. In chemical formula I, Xaa1 is His or Tyr; and Xaa7 is Thr or Ile. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating type 1 and 2 diabetes contains the recombinant GIP compound as an active ingredient. A pharmaceutical composition for treating osteoporosis and obesity contains the recombinant GIP compound as an active ingredient.
