PURPOSE: A metal foil for a secondary battery and the secondary battery are provided to increase the aperture of an opening and to maintain the intensity of the metal foil by reducing the generation of cutting residues in an opening forming part. CONSTITUTION: A metal foil(1) includes a metal-based thin plate(2) and a plurality of iron parts(3A). The iron parts are formed on one main surface(2a) of the thin plate and on the opposite surface(2b) of the main surface. The main surface is plasticized to form the iron parts(31). The iron parts include a plurality of opening parts. The opening surfaces of the opening parts are perpendicular or nearly perpendicular to the main surface of the thin plate.
