PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating remover for optical fibers, the remover can enhance workability and safety in the operation of removing coating from optical fibers. SOLUTION: The remover 1 for removing the coating of an optical fiber for expose the element wire of the optical fiber is provided with a removing member 2 with a blade 5 attached for removing the coating of an optical fiber and a belt 3 for mounting the removing member on the finger, the arm or a holder including a structure nearby an operator. On the removing member mounted on the holder with the mounting belt, an optical fiber is arranged transversely on the remover blade by the other hand of the operator. While the optical fiber is pressed against the remover blade by the one hand, using the bulb of the finger on which removing member is not mounted, the optical fiber is moved in a direction orthogonal to the blade by the other hand; and thus, the coating is removed.
