<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent coating contamination of a rotary atomizing electrostatic coater regardless of the condition of coating mist falling on a robot wrist 103a. <P>SOLUTION: Timing (time lag ΔT) at which voltages applied to a bell coating machine 102B and a robot wrist 103a by a voltage application means 10 are switched from relatively-high voltages (V<SB POS="POST">HH</SB>/V<SB POS="POST">HL</SB>and V<SB POS="POST">HH</SB>'/V<SB POS="POST">HL</SB>') to relatively-low voltages (V<SB POS="POST">LH</SB>'/V<SB POS="POST">HL</SB>' and V<SB POS="POST">LH</SB>/V<SB POS="POST">HL</SB>), and timing (time lag ΔT') at which the voltages are switched from the relatively-low voltages to the relatively-high voltages are respectively set.
